‘What do you do with an idea’ – Tickets

Dear YAV Families,

This term for YAV’s 30th Anniversary, all our choirs are involved in performing a new work written specifically for Young Adelaide Voices and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra by British composer Paul Rissman.  It is an incredible opportunity for all our choristers and they will be working hard on the music this term. All our choirs/choristers are performing in 3 performances on Friday 15th June but the 2 daytime concerts are for schools only.

Tickets to the Family Performance on Friday 15 June at 6pm at the Adelaide Town Hall are selling fast and we would be so disappointed if you missed out!  Please go to the ASO’s website and book your tickets for the evening as soon as you can, so you have the chance to see this wonderful new work we’ll be creating with Paul, dancer Carlie Angel, conductor Graham Abbott and the ASO.

Many of our choristers have worked with Paul and the ASO before – in the past 3 years we have performed Merlin and Magic and Wonderland with the ASO and have recorded Paul’s Stan and Mabel for ABC Classics.  It was the result of these successful collaborations that made this project possible.

Please buy your tickets now so you don’t miss out, but check whether your children’s school is going to the 10am and 12pm performances too.

Thanks, and more about this fantastic project later in the week from each of your choirs!

Best wishes,

Christie

Chocolate Fundraiser

Dear Parents and Choristers

Thank you all so much for your wonderful efforts in selling the boxes of Cadbury Fundraiser Boxes.  Many families have sold their boxes already and several have taken multiple boxes! WELL DONE!!  At the start of next term we will be collecting the remaining money in so please continue with the great work and sell your remaining chocolates over the school holidays.

We currently have 10 more boxes in the office that require selling.  If anyone would be prepared to take an additional box please call in and see me!!

Once again – thank you for all your support with our fundraisers!  It is greatly appreciated.

YAV Olympics! Saturday 12th May

Olympics

Hi All!

Our YAV Olympics, being held on Saturday the 12th of May (Week 2, Term 2) is an event designed to reinvigorate our community atmosphere, which we value so highly at YAV. Throughout the day, each choir will run novelty events to provoke friendly competition between our choirs. To give your choir the best possible opportunities on the day, bring along as many people as possible. This includes family, friends, neighbours and anyone in your community, helping us to build ours on the way! A key note: there will be an award for the winning choir which means best dress up and efforts on the day!

Here are some examples of our fun activities:

  • Egg and spoon race
  • Sack races
  • Human xylophone
  • Hula hoop endurance

There will be a sausage sizzle and a bake sale. If you are unable to participate in the physical activities, helping at these small fundraisers would be a great way to get involved!

Venue is being confirmed but is most likely to be Girton Playing Field, Pembroke School, 15 Walsall St, Kensington Park- TBC.

No uniforms are required for this event, but to represent your choir, come dressed in your designated colour (colour of your performance uniform):

Junior Choir – yellow
Intermediate Choir – orange
Second Concert Choir – green
Male Voice Choir – red
First Concert Choir – blue
Aurora – pink/purple

We can’t wait to see you all there!

Laura and the YAV Team.

Kiss & Drop next week

Dear Parents

We are looking for a parent who can assist with the Kiss & Drop next week.  Please call in at the office if you are able to assist on Wednesday from 4:30 – 5:00 bringing our Junior and Intermediate Choristers into the halls.

Kiss & Drop does require parent volunteers to run it – but is one of the safest and quickest ways to drop the children off.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Anthea
